We love off-the-shelf mache boxes. They’re easy to spray with PlastiKote spray paint and there’s a size and shape to fit every use you can think of! We wanted something to keep our buttons in and we were so pleased with the result, we got another one for all our sewing bits and bobs…
You will need:
Mache boxes (we got ours from Hobbycraft)
Dust sheets/newspaper
PlastiKote Twist & Spray
Glue
Buttons
How to:
- Spread newspaper/dust sheet out in a well-ventilated working area or outside.
- Shake the can well to mix the paint. Apply two to three coats of PlastiKote Twist & Spray in the colour of your choice. We chose Pistachio and Cappuccino. Allow 5 – 10 minutes between coats to dry.
- The boxes will be touch dry in 30-50 minutes and thoroughly dry in 24 hours.
- You could leave the boxes plain but we glued buttons to the small box and tops of wooden cotton reels to the larger box. Perfect storage for our sewing bits and bobs!
